Ushuaia, Argentina / Penguins

Located on bank of Beagle Channel on southern extreme of S.A.

The World ship was docked in city known as the "Uttermost Part of the Earth"

Town of 60,000 was developed by prisoners under Argentina's penal system

Don walks to the Rumbo Sur catamaran for our cruise of Beagle Channel

These are actually cormorant birds that look like penguins from afar

Bird and Sea Wolves Islands, through the Tierra del Fuego National Park

Sea Wolves Island Nature Reserve with hundreds of seals and sea lions

The Southern elephant seals weigh thousands of pounds

Isla de los Lobos Nature Reserve is protected home colony

Lazy creatures, aren't they?  And they smell!!!

Birds, sea lions, and penguins live together on rocky islands

Thousands of Magellanic penguins roam beaches and dunes

Our boat pulled up to the cute little black and whites

They wander all over the shoreline, in and out of cold water

Looks like this little one is being scolded by papa!

They are such fun to watch....

Getting pretty deep - maybe I should swim awhile!

WOW - this water is cold....  Not sure I want to go in....
